WOMB WITH TWO VIEWS: Incredible Images Of Twins Born Inside Their Amniotic Sacs

This is the incredible moment when newborn twins are shown still inside their intact amniotic sacs in an extremely rare double en caul birth.

Astonishing video footage of the birth shows the pair still encased in the life bubbles that protected them in their mother’s womb.

Then, as the medical team gently pull the sacs open, the infants start to break through for themselves.

Medics at the Hospital de Nossa Senhora das Dores (HNSD) in Ponte Nova, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, named the proud mum as Cristiane Mucci.

Her twin daughters were named as Maria Cecilia and Maria Alice.

An en caul birth is when the baby comes out still inside an intact amniotic sac, making it look like it is encased in a bubble.

It happens in less than one in 80,000 births.

En caul births are so rare because the amniotic sac normally ruptures when a mum-to-be’s water breaks or when she is induced to go into labour.

They are more common in caesarean sections than in vaginal deliveries.

A new case in Brazil has wowed netizens after not one but two twins were born still inside their intact amniotic sacs.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash, HNSD said: “On 11th June, two twins came into the world in the maternity ward of the Hospital de Nossa Senhora das Dores.

“Cristiane Mucci gave birth to little ones Maria Cecilia and Maria Alice Mucci.

“However, this birth was different and special: the babies were born en caul, i.e. still inside the amniotic sac that protects the baby during pregnancy.

“The delivery was performed by gynaecologist and obstetrician Dr Emilio Garavini and the HNSD surgical team.

“On social media, the doctor reported that, at the time of the uterine opening, he realised that it would be possible to perform the delivery en caul.

“What he didn’t imagine is that he would be able to pull out the two babies en caul and moreover at the same time. The children were born well and healthy.

“This type of delivery is very rare, happening only once in every 80,000 births.

“According to popular belief, babies who are born en caul will be very lucky during their lifetime. May it be so!”

Netizen ‘Kekeko Mel’ commented: “What a beautiful scene. They came, literally wrapped, like a gift, to their mother. Amazing.”
