As seen in the shocking footage, a female driver got out of her vehicle to check on the injured man as he groaned on the ground.

A short while later, a Spanish-speaking male driver in a Toyota Prius pulled over to check on the man, according to the police.

While he was speaking to the injured victim, a speeding car ran over the man and dragged his body 60 feet along the road.

The authorities have identified the victim, confirming he was a 35-year-old Los Angeles resident, but withheld his name until his next of kin has been informed.

The LAPD added: “Detectives wish to speak with the female who stopped and spoke with the pedestrian, the driver of the light-colour Toyota Prius which appeared to be a taxi, and the driver of the vehicle that was behind the Toyota which might have followed the second hit and run vehicle. All three are witnesses in this investigation.”

The LAPD called on members of the public to come forwards with information while adding: “Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.”

The investigation continues.
