Bizarre Moment Chinese Motorist Drives Directly Into Huge Sinkhole That Appeared On Intersection
This is the bizarre moment a Chinese motorist drives directly into a huge sinkhole that appeared in the middle of a busy intersection.
The incident took place in the district of Jizhou in the city of Ji’an located in the south-eastern Chinese province of Jiangxi at around 11am on 5th June.
The traffic police said there were vehicles waiting at a red light when the motorist drove forwards and apparently failed to see the huge sinkhole in front of him.
The local authorities said that they suspect the hole was caused by heavy rains in the area leading up to the partial road collapse, however, the matter remains under investigation.
After the motorist drove directly into the two-metre deep sinkhole, the emergency services arrived on the scene to cordon off the affected area and help the man out of the pit.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In the footage, the motorist is seen pulling away at the lights and heading straight for the edge of the huge hole.
The car falls into the hole and the second video shows the vehicle lying on its roof in the pit.
In the third clip, the driver is seen being helped out of the hole after cones had been placed around it to prevent further incident.
