This is the moment a brave Essex cop chases a thug who punched her and a colleague and eventually catches him by his undies as he tries to scale a gate.

PC Chantelle Feyzifar, who recently appeared on the BBC’s Crimewatch Live, caught the suspect in Chafford Hundred in Essex in January 2020.

The man was later jailed for four years and three months for causing actual bodily harm, assaulting an emergency worker, dangerous driving, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Essex Police shared the footage on social media on 21st March with the message: “The bravery of one of our officers has been featured on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live and now you can watch her body-worn video footage of the incident.

“PC Chantelle Feyzifar stepped in after a violent driver dragged a colleague down the road with his moving vehicle after a routine traffic stop in Chafford Hundred.

“When the vehicle stopped, the then 26-year-old man started to punch the officer.”

The police continued: “Thankfully, Chantelle had chased the vehicle. She attempted to get the man off her colleague and, despite being punched in the head herself, she was able to use her CS Spray and call for back-up.

“When the man ran off, Chantelle continued to chase him and prevented him from escaping over an 8ft gate, detaining him until colleagues arrived to assist in the arrest.”

The footage shows the suspect apparently dragging PC Feyzifar’s colleague in his car before a struggle ensues.

She then chases after the topless suspect through the streets until he tries to scale an eight-foot gate.

The cop grabs the suspect by his undies and manages to detain the man until help arrives on the scene.

The man was later jailed for four years and three months after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm, assaulting an emergency worker, dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was also banned from driving for four years and eight months and ordered to pay GBP 600 compensation and GBP 200 costs.

The police said: “Chantelle, from our #Grays Local Policing Team, was last year awarded the force’s Wilson Trophy for ‘outstanding act of the year’ for her brave actions.”
