Central Park NYPD Rescue Driver Trapped By Torrential Floods Hitting The Big Apple

This footage shows NYPD police officers from the Central Park Precinct rescuing a driver who had become trapped by torrential flood water in New York City.

The footage was shared on social media by the NYPD captioned the post: “Last night, Sergeant Moschetto and Officer Torres from the Central Park Precinct spotted a livery driver stuck in floodwater on the 65th Street Transverse.

“The officers quickly waded through the water and carried the driver out to safety.”

At the time of writing, storm Ida had claimed 41 lives across four states. A state of emergency has been declared in the city.

The mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, said that the city was “enduring and historic event”. The neighbouring state of New Jersey has also declared an emergency.
