Cops Rescue Deer In Distress With Antler Tangled In Netting
A hapless deer with its antlers caught in netting has been freed by kind-hearted cops.
The rescue took place in the city of Sandy Springs, in Fulton County, in the south-eastern US state of Georgia, with Newsflash obtaining the images from the Sandy Springs Police Department.
The Sandy Springs Police Department said: “Sandy Springs Police Officers rescue and free a deer in distress.”
The footage begins with the officers approaching the seemingly terrified deer, which can be seen with its antlers all tangled up in some netting between two poles.
The poor animal appears to be in distress as it tries to free its antlers and snout from the netting, ripped down from two poles positioned in the ground in the field.
One officer seemingly holds the animal down, apparently trying to soothe it by gently saying “here we go, here we go”, adding “now you can breathe, now you can breathe” as his colleague cuts at the netting with a small blade.
The animal can be heard panting heavily and as he cuts at the net, the cop warns his colleague: “Don’t want to cut it toward your hand.”
The deer is heard groaning as the officer cuts the rope wrapped around its antlers. One of the officers asks his colleague if he can see better than he can. One officer then hands the other the blade.
The cops take their time, carefully cutting the netting, with one of the officers saying “almost there”. One of the officers can then be heard saying: “Come on, buddy! Almost there!”
The footage then cuts to them eventually snipping the deer free from the netting, with a third officer’s legs visible in the frame.
One of the officers tells his colleague to “watch your fingers, man” because the officer doing the cutting can be heard saying “got it!”
One of the other officers apparently has hold of the animal’s antler as it is freed, no doubt to avoid being injured by its large antlers and he tells it to “move, move, move”.
The deer is then seen scampering across the field, through a puddle before leaping through some goalposts, and darting into the nearby woodland.
The cop cheers and applauds their efforts at rescuing the entangled animal as the footage ends.
