A Las Vegas sniffer dog has found an incredible 230 lbs of cocaine worth around GBP 8 million hidden among a load of tomatoes on a lorry.

The police dog named Nuggetz found the 230 lbs of cocaine worth around USD 10.5 million (GBP 8 million) on the lorry in Las Vegas, in the US state of Nevada, on 25th March.

The drugs were found after officers noticed the driver appeared nervous with an unconvincing back story.

Sniffer dog Nuggetz was let inside the trailer and promptly alerted cops that cocaine packets were hidden among the load of tomatoes.

The police said two suspects, identified as Nanak Singh and Chandra Prakash, were placed under arrest and booked for trafficking a controlled substance.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said in a statement on 25th March: “Don’t bring it to Vegas! A semi-truck had more than just produce on board.

“Detectives stopped the truck for erratic driving near I-15 and St. Rose Pkwy around 2:30 a.m. this morning. The nervous driver had a story that didn’t add up.

“LVMPD K9 Nuggetz indicated a positive alert for drugs which led to a search.

“Among the load of tomatoes, we found 230 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of USD 10.5 million dollars.

“Nanak Singh and Chandra Prakash were arrested and booked for trafficking a controlled substance.”

The investigation is ongoing by local cops in Vegas, a city that attracts many vistors annually and where there are lots of things that are allowed like gambling which are often illegal in other states.

But most recreational drugs are considered “felony” drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and so on which it is strictly illegal to possess in Nevada in any quantity.

To even possess more than four grams or above of a felony drug will result in charges of trafficking in a controlled substance, which is a B felony and carries mandatory prison time.

Sale of a controlled substance can be any amount, and value does not have to be given.

So trafficking charges could even apply to a person that obtained drugs for themselves and friends to party in Las Vegas they could be guilty of the sale of a controlled substance, which is a B Felony.

But despite being found in some areas, they are still dangerous and illegal on all levels.
