A crazed killer fled naked on a motorbike after reportedly slaying his wife and two-month-old baby to death with a meat cleaver.
Police in Malaysia found the dead bodies of a 26-year-old woman and a baby boy in a house in Kampung Bakar Batu, Johor Bahru, on Monday, 4th July.
The tragic pair were found with slash wounds to their necks.
A video of the killer fleeing on the bike later emerged on social media.
It shows the man riding the motorcycle naked in the central lane of a three-lane carriageway amid baffled motorists.
Two hours later – following a tip-off from a member of the public – police arrested a 24-year-old man in Permas Jaya, around a 10-minute drive away from the crime scene.
Officers also seized a red motorcycle and a meat cleaver.
The female victim was named in reports as Hajar Nursyahirin Rosman.
Her father, Rosman Ahmad, told local media he was shocked by the brutal slayings.
He added that the couple had been looking forward to holding their wedding reception later this month, following easing of coronavirus restrictions in place at the time of their wedding last year.
He told local media: “My daughter and my son-in-law are good kids. They have no problems. I’ve never heard them fight.
“It’s just that lately, I know my son-in-law doesn’t have a stable job after quitting his work a few months ago. Maybe he has problems at the work place.”
But he added that his son-in-law had found part-time work and had never complained of financial troubles.
Police are investigating the incident as murder.
