This is the moment a truck driver leaps out of the way in the nick of time just as an even bigger lorry slams into the back of his vehicle.
The near miss was filmed in the district of Cukurova in the Turkish province of Adana, as Vedat Yilmaz was delivering watermelons on 24th July.
But when he stopped on the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep (TAG) Highway to check a malfunction in his vehicle, a second huge truck was bearing down on his vehicle.
CCTV footage of the smash shows how Vedat threw himself out of the path of the second truck with just seconds to spare.
As he landed, his own truck was smashed to pieces as the other driver – named as Ali Kayalar, 46 – ploughed on apparently without braking.
Vedat was uninjured in the accident but Ali was trapped in his cab along with passenger Bedri Alpyilmaz.
Both lorries also shed their load on the motorway, causing traffic chaos.
Ali was rescued from his crashed vehicle and taken to the Adana Seyhan State Hospital by ambulance in a serious condition.
According to reports, he is still fighting for his life in intensive care. There have been no updates on the passenger’s condition.
Meanwhile, Vedat was detained by the police as the investigation continues.
