“South Walton Fire District’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT) responded for a mutual aid call to Paxton on Wednesday afternoon when our partners at Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida, reported a dog had fallen into a 15-foot deep hole.

“SWFD’s Squad 3 and District Chief 2 arrived on scene around 3pm then assessed the air quality of the confined space with a gas monitor.

“Once the space was deemed safe to enter, firefighters placed a ladder into the hole and attached our rescuer to a safety line.”

The fire department added: “The firefighter descended the ladder and made contact with the dog, who was very friendly, then used webbing to build the dog a safety harness.”

In the footage, a fireman is seen ascending the ladder with the dog as SWFD crew members help the pair get through the small opening.

SWFD said: “Thankfully, the dog was in good condition and did not appear injured. Walton County Animal Control and Walton County Public Works responded to the scene to evaluate the dog and fill the hole following the rescue.
