This is the moment firefighters battle intense flames after a house was struck by lightning during a massive storm.

A family inside the property in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA, fled seconds before the flames caught hold on 5th July.

Local firefighters posted a series of videos on social media of the fight to out the intense flames spreading across the property’s roof.

Officials confirmed that the blaze had been started by a lightning strike.

The fire followed a strong storm in the area that included a torrential downpour and warnings of flash floods across the state.

Harsh weather conditions are expected to continue in the region in the coming days.
