HAWK ABOUT TRICKY: Firefighters Rescue Trapped Falcon From Roof
This is the moment firefighters rescue a wounded falcon unable to fly to freedom from building ledge.
Animal lovers had called for help when they noticed that the bird seemed stuck on the rooftop in Madrid, the Spanish capital, on 27th May.
A video of the rescue shows one firefighter unsuccessfully trying to encourage the bird to perch on a pole.
One of the firefighters says: “It has a cut leg.”
And another said: “What a creature.”
Then one firefighter dons a safety harness and is lowered down the roof towards the stricken bird.
As he inched closer, he suddenly grabs the falcon and hands it gently to a colleague who puts it safely in a box.
The falcon was delivered to Madrid Police then transferred it to MadridCRAS, a wild animal recovery centre.
