Dr Karakaya’s killing sparked outrage in Turkey and thousands of healthcare workers are calling for an “indefinite strike.”

A two-day strike was called by healthcare unions and the Turkish Medical Association.

But workers were outraged by a government gagging order banning the reporting of Dr Karakaya’s murder case and have called for tougher industrial action.
