Four elephants can be seen happily splashing around in their pool.

The video was taken at the Raid Park Zoo in the city of Tucson, located in Arizona, United States.

In the video, four elephants can be seen splashing around their pool.

At first, the elephants stand just at the edge of the pool dipping their feet.

Soon after some of them go into the water turning on their sides and splashing around with their trunks.

Among the group, there is a calf who seems unsure of going deeper into the water so it just hangs out on the side of the pool.

Samantha Wilber, Communications Coordinator at Reid Park Zoo told Clipzilla: “We have a herd of 5 African elephants. The four in the video are our female herd that consists of two adults and two juveniles including Penzi, our one-year-old calf.”

Although the Zoo provides plenty of entertainment for the animals, the elephants have chosen their favourite activity.

Samantha Wilber explained: “Our herd receives countless forms of enrichment daily, but one of their favourites is fresh mud puddles to wallow in along with this massive pool for swimming.”

African elephants are the largest living terrestrial mammal. They are a dull, brownish-grey colour, and sparsely covered in black, bristle-like hairs. Their wrinkled skin and large ears increase surface area, keeping their body cool.

Elephants are highly social creatures and live in groups called herds. Herds consist of the matriarch – the oldest female – related females, and their offspring. Males, or bull elephants, will live with the herd until sexual maturity, at which time they leave and form bachelor herds or live alone.
