A husband who hacked his teenage wife to death with a knife and then killed himself left their five-month-old son alive in his mother’s blood.

Killer Nikita Gusev, 23, plunged the knife repeatedly into his wife’s heart and body before taking his own life, said police in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Police found their infant son next to his 19-year-old mother Svetlana Kopteva’s corpse in the family apartment on 4th August.

The victim’s family said Gusev had crippled the family with debt, and Svetlana – a pharmacy student – had been trying to leave him.

She had met Gusev on a dating website nearly three years ago and they married in May.

Gusev drifted through a string of jobs, including a soldier, a security guard and a courier.

A friend – who did not want to be named – told local media he had “always been a closed and unsociable person”.

Svetlana’s mother, Elena Kopteva, told local media: “Sveta was killed by her husband. Murderer.

“He killed Sveta because he was in debt. He couldn’t even take responsibility for what he did.

“He died like an *sshole.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
