Lambo Owner Mixes Brake And Gas Pedals, Sending Supercar Flying Into Swiss Lake

A Swiss driver has crashed his GBP-280,000 Lamborghini into a lake when he mixed up the accelerator and brake pedals while reversing out of a car park.

The 31-year-old Swiss driver, name not reported, was trying to reverse his luxury supercar when he accidentally drove it into Mondsee Lake in the Austrian town of Mondsee near the city of Salzburg last night, 19th October.

The news site Heute reported that the driver was travelling from Mondsee towards Unterach am Attersee with a 40-year-old friend when the accident occurred.

The passenger got out of the car while the driver attempted to reverse out of a car park that backed onto Mondsee Lake.

During what should have been straight forward manoeuvre, the driver reportedly mixed up his pedals.

Instead of pressing the brake, he hit the accelerator and sent the powerful supercar reversing directly into the lake.

The car sank an estimated 5 metres (16.4 feet) and the driver was able to crawl out and swim to the bank uninjured.

The driver and his passenger watched helplessly as the Italian supercar sank before their eyes.

The fire department arrived with a tow truck and removed the supercar from the bottom of the lake.

Bernhard Strobl, from the Innerschwand Fire Brigade, said in a statement obtained by Newsflash that: “A lot of care was required to recover the valuable sports car, but together with five fire service divers, a recovery balloon and a crane truck, my team managed to carefully pull the vehicle out of the Lake.”

The recovery took an estimated three hours and involved over 30 members of the Mondsee and Innerschwand fire brigades.
