Moment Quaint Scene In Sleepy Chinese Town Split By Thunderous Earthquake
This is the moment a quaint sleepy town scene is suddenly split by the thunderous sound of an earthquake rumbling beneath the locals’ feet.
The earthquake took place in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi at around 3.05pm on 11th September.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Centre, the quake was reported in the cities of Baise, Jingxi, Hechi, and the regional capital Nanning.
Officials said the earthquake had a magnitude 4.3 and a depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles).
The earthquake authority said the epicentre took place 12 kilometres from Debao County, 41 kilometres away from Jingxi, 58 kilometres from Baise, and 178 kilometres from Nanning.
The nearest inhabited areas to the epicentre were Najia Town and Zurong Township, and no fatalities were reported.
In the footage, several residents are seen relaxing in the shade outside their doorways on a sunny afternoon.
The faint sound of chatter and plates being cleaned in the background is followed by an elderly person passing on a squeaky scooter.
However, the sleepy scene is suddenly split by the thunderous sound of the ground shaking beneath the locals’ feet.
As the CCTV camera shakes, residents jump from their seats and go to check the street and nearby buildings to see if any obvious damage had occurred.
In the second video, a mounted CCTV camera records the sounds of a family in their kitchen before the ground suddenly shakes and kitchenware smashes in the background followed by shouts from concerned family members.
