Moose Enjoying Dip In Russian Bay Diverted Away From Dam

This is the moment Russian officials spot a moose enjoying a dip in a city bay before diverting its course to prevent it from heading towards a dam.

Members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM) were patrolling the area of Ershovsky Bay when they noticed a large animal swimming in the water.

As they approached in their boat, they noticed the animal was a large moose that was heading towards the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station.

Realising they had react quickly to divert the moose, EMERCOM officials approached the animal and found that it did not appear scared. They then managed to divert the moose back to shore.

EMERCOM official Sergei Mitin said:”He abruptly changed route and swam towards the dam of the hydroelectric power station. We decided to block his path and turn on the siren.”

Mitin added that the moose did not seem scared of the siren, but obligingly changed direction nonetheless, eventually reaching the area of Jacobi Bay where it came ashore and disappeared into the nearby forest.

An EMERCOM spokesperson told Newsflash:”We always post videos of our firefighters and rescuers doing their fine work online. We want to help people understand situations and cultivate a culture of safety.”

The spokesperson added: “Safety starts with yourself!”
