Newlyweds Drown On The Eve Of Their Wedding Night After Crashing Into The Nile

This is the moment a newlywed husband and wife crash off the road plunging their car into the river Nile resulting in both of their deaths on the eve of their wedding.

The groom, Hossam Hassan Qandil, was returning from accompanying his new wife, who wasn’t identified and her sister to the hairdressers when their driver, Ahmed Qandil, reportedly crashed into the river whilst trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

The Lake Security Directorate reported that the incident occurred yesterday evening (16th August) in the Beheira governorate in northern Egypt.

In footage captured by CCTV, the vehicle can be seen swerving off the road and crashing over the bank straight into the river.

People from a nearby building rush out and attempt to save the people from the sinking car but were unable to help.

Local news site Prime Time Zone reports that the newly married couple and Hossam’s sister-in-law were unable to escape from the car because the electric windows would not open as the car sunk to the bottom of the Nile.

Ahmed Qandil initially survived the incident and was transferred to a local hospital but died later the same day in hospital as a result of his injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
