This is the moment a woman dodges being crushed by falling sheets of metal after her husband calls her inside.

The astonishing escape – in Suzhou Anhui province, eastern China – came as the city was being battered by torrential rain and high winds.

Footage of the drama has been widely shared on the local social network, Douyin.

The video shows the wife – named as Ms Li – sitting on her electric scooter on the pavement when her husband suddenly called her indoors.

As someone speaks to her from inside the building, she holds out her arms before she is called inside.

She gets off the scooter, lowers the kickstand, and walks indoors.

Just seconds later, a stack of metal sheets can be seen crashing from an upper floor and hitting the pavement where the woman has been standing.
