This is the moment a nest of owls is found in the air vent of a kitchen extractor hood.

The video was recorded at a property in the city of Changde in the Chinese province of Hunan on 17th April.

In the first three videos, an owl can be seen through a hole in the air vent of the kitchen extractor.

In the fourth video, a man can be seen holding the baby owl in his hand, while several other people are standing in the room.

He is reportedly a wildlife expert and seems to be preparing to move the owls to a new location, before then changing his mind and putting it back in the pipe.

According to reports, the homeowner, identified only as Mr Ma, who had worked in another town for two years, had just returned to his home when he heard a noise coming from the stove hood pipe.

He was stunned to see there was an owl with its babies inside.

He immediately noticed the forest police who came over to check the nest.

Mr Ma told local media: “The owls are too small to be picked up. My range hood can not be used now, so it only serves as a nest.”

Owls belong to the biological rank Strigiformes which includes over 200 species. They usually feed on insects, little mammals, small birds and even fish.

They can be found in every place on the earth, except for several remote islands and polar caps.

Owls usually nest in buildings or trees. They find cavities or comfortable corners where they can lay their eggs and keep them safe.

The videos gained a lot of comments on the social network Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, such as netizen ‘User 5883227611053’ who said: “Don’t worry about it, they are there only temporarily, and they will fly away from the blessed land in a few days.”

While ‘understand your family’ wrote: “Homeowner, you are a kind person.”

‘little cool’ commented: “Thank you for being careful. Otherwise, you’d have smoked them.”

‘It is not easy to live in vain’ said: “It’s time for you to get rich, the birds are coming to your house.”

And ‘Xu Zhouwen’s father’ joked: “Your house is a zoo.”
