Police Release Video Of Man Accused Of Carjacking, Shooting Arrested After Crashing On Yolo Causeway
This is the moment Sacramento cops arrest a carjacker after he allegedly fired over 20 shots and caused a major accident on a motorway.
The incident took place on the I-80 motorway near the Yolo Causeway near Sacramento in the US state of California at around 4pm on 18th February.
Sacramento Police Department (SPD) shared the footage on social media with the message: “The Sacramento Police Department has released an edited recap video showing the arrest of a suspected carjacker who apparently took off from the scene of a shooting in Sacramento and wound up crashing on I-80 near the Yolo Causeway.”
A ShotSpotter activation alerted the police that 13 shots were fired on Silver Eagle Road just before 4pm.
A second alert reported another 12 bullets being fired in the same area moments later.
The suspected shooter stole a car and was tracked by a police helicopter driving at speeds of 100mph on the I-80 motorway.
The video footage shows the suspect losing control of the stolen car and crashing into another vehicle on the motorway.
The suspect limps away from the car before trying to carjack several other vehicles.
At one point, the man smashed a car window and went into the backseat.
He then tried to steal another car before the cops arrived and arrested him moments later.
There have been no further updates on the suspect’s identity and the charges he faces.
