Romanian Jailbird Becomes Viral TikTok Star With Clips Filmed Inside French Prison Using Illegal Mobile Phone
This Romanian jailbird has become a viral star on TikTok after he posted videos about his life in a French prison using a mobile phone.
Some of his videos have now got over a million views and the Romanian man appears to be making the best of his life behind bars, drinking fresh coffee, and eating delicious looking dishes including duck liver, octopus pasta, and fish, according to Romanian newspaper Observator News.
In one of his videos, the man, whose TikTok and Instagram account handles are both called ‘George Dobrescu’, although it has not been confirmed that this is his name, says: “Let me show you what the judiciary brought us at lunchtime. Melon, pasta with meat and yoghurt.”
On top of the meals that are brought to him, the man also appears to have significant supplies in a fridge and in bags around him. The footage does indeed appear to have been shot in France, as French brand names can be seen on various products in the videos, as well as French adverts on the TV.
In the footage, it appears that he is sharing his cell with just one other detainee, and they have their own bathroom.
The man, who has yet to be identified, but who has over 37,000 followers on TikTok, also said: “That’s what a prison cell looks like. I’m showing you it. I’m showing you two beds, a window, two chairs, a table, a TV, a landline phone. There’s also a fridge in here.”
Landlines were installed at the beginning of 2021 in over 12,000 prison cells in 60 French prisons, allowing detainees to stay in touch with their family members.
Mobile phones, however, are illegal in French prisons and it is unclear how the jailbird obtained it.
In one video though, in which he is apparently talking to a pal, he shows that he has a phone hidden in the sole of his flip-flop.
It is currently unclear if the authorities are investigating the new TikTok star and although Newsflash spoke to the French Ministry of Justice to request a statement, they had not responded at the time of writing.
