Shocked Parents Get Wet During Welcome Visit To Chinese High School

This is the moment a torrential downpour happens – inside a high school college lecture theatre.

Video footage shows what almost seems like a rainstorm inside the expansive lecture room at the Nanjing Normal University Affiliated Yangtze High School (Yangtze II) located in the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu province in China.

According to a spokesman, the protective sheeting has started to age and no longer works, and the problem only became apparent when leaves block the drain causing the water to backup – and then flooding through the roof.

Panicked people inside first noticed what appeared to be special effects water flooding over the stage before then started to rain on their own seats as well.

Some people were able to put up umbrellas and surprisingly the lighting continue to work in the packed auditorium despite the mass of water coming down from the ceiling in numerous places.

The water caused extensive damage to the building that was first built in 2006 which is likely to be out of action for some months as repair work is carried out.

Those in the auditorium were apparently welcoming new parents from this year’s intake of high school students when the heavy rain started. Students are prepared in the educational facility to move to the affiliated university when they are older.

The college said that while the repair work was being carried out other buildings would also be checked to avoid a repeat incident for staff as well as the 1800 students that are enrolled there.

It was founded in 1984 by the Yangzi Petrochemical Group that transferred it to the local government in 2004. It moved to the new campus where the auditorium that leaked is located in 2007.
