Son Photoshops Flat Cap Wearing Dad Onto Famous Pop Culture Scenes

An Instagram designer has Photoshopped his dad onto famous pop-culture scenes in a funny series that sees the flat-cap-wearing man joining the cast of Pulp Fiction and replacing Kate Winslet in Titanic.

Matt Bonito runs ‘The Dadvent’ Instagram page, where he posts funny images of his dad Dom Bonito featuring in famous cultural scenes.

The Dadvent bio reads: “I make my dad pose for stupid photos every December because it’s lol.”

After making his father sit for a series of photos with different facial expressions, Matt gets to work incorporating them into famous scenes.

Dom, usually seen wearing a flat cap and glasses in the images, features alongside John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in Quentin Tarantino’s iconic 1994 thriller Pulp Fiction.

He is also seen as Robin in the 1960s TV series Batman with Adam West as the Caped Crusader.

In the famous Jack and Rose scene at the front of the Titanic in the 1997 film of the same name, Dom is seen replacing Kate Winslet in Leonardo DiCaprio’s arms.

Matt’s dad also appears in numerous famous paintings such as Edvard Munch’s The Scream and as one of the card players in Dogs Playing Poker by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge.

Matt said: “I’d seen other people doing advent calendar posts on Facebook, pictures of cute animals and stuff like that, but I thought it would be funny to post pictures of my dad doing stupid things around the house – he’s a bit of a local celebrity where I live, so I knew my Facebook friends would find it amusing.

“Rather than have him constantly doing things in just one room, I decided to cut him out and stick him in other places. It was only ever intended for my friends and family, but it got so popular that we’ve now got dedicated pages for it right across social media.”

Now in its eighth year, the Dadvent founder said: “We can spend hours sat laughing around the dinner table while we come up with ideas, and it’s never a bad thing to have an excuse to hang out with him.

“I also just love the creativity of it all. Not everything we try works, but I just love the absurdity of dropping an old man in a ridiculous outfit into, quite often, very serious scenes.”
