This is the moment a brazen thief steals a car in front of its owner before throwing her from the vehicle when she tries to stop him, running over her leg and injuring another woman and a child.

The carjacking took place when the car owner and her relatives were unloading shopping at their home in the Brazilian municipality of Limeira in broad daylight on the afternoon of 15th April.

The footage shows how the passing thief gets into the driver’s seat as the two women, one with a baby in her arms, unload shopping from the car into their house.

One of the women notices the robbery attempt and rushes to the car, climbing into the passenger seat as the thief drives off down the road.

The other woman, still carrying her child, also tries to grab onto the car, but the two are dragged by the moving vehicle and thrown to the ground with the woman falling face-down on top of the youngster.

Seconds later, the other woman is seen being pushed from the passenger seat onto the road as the thief drives off.

According to reports, one of the victims was taken to hospital with light injuries, but it is unclear which of the three. She has since been discharged.

According to the police, the car thief has not yet been arrested and he is still at large with the stolen vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and the police hope CCTV footage will help them catch the thief and recover the car.
