A female Alabama primary school teacher has been arrested on multiple child porn charges.

Amy Sudberry, 39, who has since been placed on leave by the education board, was arrested in Rainbow City in Etowah County in the US state of Alabama on Monday night.

The suspect, who works at Carlisle Elementary School, is accused of chemical endangerment of a child, possession of pornographic material, and production of pornography with minors, among other charges.

The suspect’s husband Joshua Wayne Sudberry, 33, has also been detained on charges of chemical endangerment of a child and drug paraphernalia.

Police spokesperson Alan Cosby said: “The Etowah County Board of Education is aware of criminal charges against an employee, Mrs Amy Sudberry.

“This employee has been placed on leave pending the outcome of this matter.

“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will have no further comment as this is a personnel matter.”

The Rainbow City Police Department said the alleged porn material involved a 12-year-old child and that no students at the suspect’s school are believed to have been involved.

The police said they were first alerted to the teacher when they were received a tip about a TikTok video.

According to the police, officers found drug paraphernalia, the residue of cannabis and a white powder within a minor’s reach.

The couple has a four-year-old child together. The police did not say whether the child is considered a victim in the case and only made reference to the 12-year-old minor.

Sudberry is currently being held on bail bonds totalling USD 100,000 (GBP 74,000) as the investigation continues.
