A girl who splashed out on her 18th birthday bash has said that no one showed up after her ‘friends’ lied to her about their intentions to attend.

Pilar Armijo, 18, from the small town of Aldao, in Santa Fe province, in north-eastern Argentina, celebrated her birthday on 2nd August, and said she spent ARS 50,000 (GBP 306) on the pink-themed do.

But none of her so-called ‘friends’ showed up after apparently lying to her about their plans to show up, she said.

Pilar said in a post on Twitter which has notched up over 22,400 likes: “I always went to their birthdays, I don’t know what happened.”

She also said: “Today I was celebrating my birthday and I am seeing stories of my guests who could not come.”

But she added that thankfully, she has a beautiful family who were very supportive.

Pilar said: “In total I spent ARS 50,000. I work as a babysitter and my salary is not even half of that, I had the help of my whole family and I had a lot of paid things that were not used.

Among them in the living room, since I ended up doing it at my in-laws’ house because the living room was too big for those of us… My mum and my boyfriend made a lot of effort to help me and we are a humble family, it was all done with work and effort.”

But she said: “My friends did not come, so I did it just with my family.”

Pilar said she does not understand why no one showed up at her party. She said: “I always went to their birthdays. They go out to bowling alleys further away from where I live, I don’t know what happened.”

Pilar said that she has learned from her mistakes and that her next party will be quite different.
