This is the moment patient firefighters pull a wooden toy block from the mouth of a panicked baby after it got stuck there.
The incident happened in the city of Hefei in the Chinese province of Anhui on the 14th April with the footage released now by the emergency services.
In the video, a woman can be seen holding the frightened baby, whose face is red and sweaty as it cannot close its mouth due to the block stuck inside, while a firefighter tries to pull the toy out of its mouth.
After trying to use a tool and adjust the angle of the toy, the man then successfully takes the toy out of the crying baby’s mouth.
According to reports, the baby had been playing with the building blocks and putting them into its mouth when it suddenly started crying, and its parents saw one of the blocks was stuck inside its mouth.
After the toy had been inside for ten minutes and they failed to remove it, they called the emergency services and firefighters responded.
Hefei Fire said in a statement obtained by AsiaWire: “The firefighters arrived at the scene quickly. After the emergency personnel checked they found that the child was not in danger of suffocation.”
According to firefighters, when they checked the baby, they noticed the block that was stuck could not be out due to the bad angle where it was and an additional problem was the emotional condition of the baby.
They added in the statement: “The firefighters immediately checked the toy stuck in the child’s mouth, and judged that the child was frightened and emotionally upset, so it had little chance of getting rid of the blocks alone. It was also stuck at a strange angle, resulting in the block being unable to be taken out of the mouth easily.
“After one of the firefighters asked the mother to help him in calming the baby and stopping it moving, he tried to pull the toy out.”
Hefei Fire added: “He opened the child’s mouth with his hand to adjust the angle of the building block, and quickly took out the toy.”
It is not known whether the baby had need of medical care after the incident.
