The Police Department in Phoenix which is the most populous city in the US state of Arizona has released a video showing deputies hearing gunshots coming in their direction while talking to people they stopped for a traffic violation.

The officers from the Maryvale Estrella Mountain precinct that covers 75 square miles with a population of 304,546 found themselves in the area of 95th Avenue and McDowell Road when they were disturbed by the gunfire at around 6.45am on Sunday on 21st August.

After alerting other colleagues and relaying the information to dispatch, the officers quickly told the citizens to lay on the ground and assisted them to safety.

The Phoenix Police Department reported on their Facebook site that nobody was hurt during the shooting and asked witnesses to call them for further information regarding the incident.

The video has received over 31,000 views ever since it was posted on Tuesday on 24th August.
