This is the moment a hero uses kung fu kicks to see off a raging pit bull as it savages an elderly woman in the street.

The shocking scenes were filmed in La Maria, in the Mexican city of Puebla, on 22nd July.

CCTV footage of the dog’s relentless attack shows how it bit and tore at its helpless victim as she was pulled down onto the tarmac.

The dog is seen running straight at the woman as she tries to walk past.

Within seconds, the beast is leaping up at her tearing her clothes to shreds before pulling her to the ground.

At first, the woman tries to fight off the attack but the dog overwhelms her, biting her all over her body and legs as she writhes in agony.

Then – as it looks as if the dog might kill her – a man runs to her rescue and kung fu kicks the pit bull clear across the road.

As the dog fights back, the hero stands over the helpless woman and repeatedly boots the animal away.

But the dog only flees when a neighbour hands the man a huge machete.

As the pit bull spots the blade, it takes off pausing only to snatch up one of its victim’s sandals in its jaws.

Local media report that the victim was hospitalised with multiple injuries following the attack.

It is reported that the dog’s owner has refused to take responsibility for the incident or cover her medical expenses.

It is unclear if a complaint has been filed with the local police.
