Couple Lays Board To Neighbours Window To Rescue Home Alone Cat When Owner Vanished

This is the moment a kindhearted couple rescues their neighbour’s cat after they noticed it had been left alone for numerous days without food and its owner had suddenly vanished.

The couple said that the cat had been meowing through the open window from hunger and had decided to rescue it from the high-rise property using a board in the city of Yangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu on 18th August.

According to local media, it was unclear why the owner had left the cat alone and, after observing it for several days, neighbour Ms Wu, her family members, and other residents helped to rescue the feline.

Ms Wu said she heard the cat meowing for several days and she and her neighbours then realise that its owners had been away for even longer.

As the window had been left open, Ms Wu and other helpers rescued the cat by placing a long board from her balcony to her neighbour’s window ledge for it to use as a crossing.

She said it took around 10 minutes to tempt the cat across by placing food along the board.

Ms Wu added that another neighbour is currently looking after the cat. It is unclear where its owners went to and if they plan to return to their property in the near future.
