This is the moment a dog’s lead is snagged in a closing lift and the dog ends up being hung until a passerby arrives and rescues it.

The incident was filmed at a residential building in the Russian capital Moscow, and the footage was shared on the social network VK by the channel Novosti Moskvy.

According to the news site Life, the dog owner entered the lift and pressed the button for the 16th floor while her dog was still outside.

The lift started to ascend the building floors and the woman’s dog was strangled at the lift entrance by its lead, caught in the closed doors.

A passing man saw the dog in trouble and desperately tried to free the animal from its trapped lead, eventually doing so when the woman reached the 16th floor.

She then came back down in the lift and found her dog in the arms of the kind helper who reportedly informed her of what just happened and handed over her pet pooch.

In the footage, the dog is seen hanging at the lift entrance after its owner had started to ascend to the 16th floor.

A man passes by and immediately holds the dog’s weight while trying to free it from its lead.

The man then holds the dog in his arms and notices that the woman is apparently coming back down in the lift for her pet so he waits for her to arrive.
