Downed Missile Wreaks Devastation On Kyiv Apartment Block, Killing One And Wounding Three

This footage shows the destruction wreaked on a residential building in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after a missile was reportedly downed on the site, killing one.

The footage shows firemen and rescuers cutting residents out of their flats and leading them to safety while putting out fires in the devastated building.

The footage was obtained by Newsflash from the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine earlier today (Thursday, 17th March).

The SES accompanied the footage with the text: “In Kyiv, as a result of the fall of the remains of a downed missile, destruction and fire broke out in a high-rise building.

“On 17th March, at 5.02am, the Rescue Service 101 received a report of a fire and destruction of a residential building in the Darnytskyi district of the capital.

“Firefighters from the nearest fire and rescue units immediately arrived on the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers found that as a result of the fall of the downed missile, the 16th and technical floor of the building was demolished, and the 16th floor of the apartment block was set on fire.

“At 5.49, the fire in an area of ​​20 square metres was extinguished.

“People are being evacuated from the 11th and higher floors of the building and rescue operations are being carried out to dismantle the structures and search for people.

“Ten units of basic and special fire and rescue equipment, as well as 60 personnel are involved on the spot.

“According to preliminary information, 30 people were evacuated on the spot, three of whom were injured. One person died. The information is being clarified.”
