A Turkish-born hairdresser living in Ireland has died after being persuaded to undergo a series of plastic surgeries and suffering a heart attack during a trip to Istanbul.

Kemal Gunes, 40, went to the Turkish city for a hair transplant only but was allegedly persuaded by doctors to undergo liposuction with a planned nose job after that – despite having reservations.

A team of 14 people, including three doctors, reportedly took part in the surgery.

The married father of three, who works as a hairdresser in Ireland, wanted to undergo the hair transplant only, but then also opted for a rhinoplasty nose job and liposuction while he was there.

He was allegedly persuaded to have multiple ops to complete the procedures on the same day.

After the hair transplant, Gunes reportedly underwent liposuction at around 1pm on 16th April and fell ill while under the knife.

According to reports, his heart stopped but the surgical team were able to bring him back to life before calling an ambulance.

The victim’s heart stopped again on the way to hospital and he passed away in A&E.

The public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for ‘reckless killing’ following Gunes’ death and the police took statements from 14 people, including doctors A.M.U., 38, S.C., 55, and anaesthesiologist D.B., 48, who allegedly took part in the surgery.

According to reports, the patient did not want to undergo the other operations following the hair transplant but was persuaded at the clinic.

Meanwhile, the anesthesiologist, who allegedly took part in the procedures, has claimed that he was not even at the clinic at the time and did not see the patient, despite his name appearing on the operation list, according to local media.

Gunes’ family in Ireland travelled to Istanbul following his death and attended his funeral in his hometown of Tunceli.
