A three-week search for a missing teen came to a tragic end when a self-confessed woman-hater told cops where to find her mutilated body.
The stabbed body of Ksenia Markevich, 19, was found in a field in Sterlitamaksky District, Bashkortostan, Russia, on 28th July.
Officials investigating the case believe her killer had been radicalised against women by a failed relationship with another woman.
The school-leaver had gone missing from her family home in nearby Salavat on 7th July after ostensibly going for a walk.
Two days after her disappearance, her worried mother began to receive suspicious messages from her daughter’s phone number.
One such message reportedly read: “Mum, everything is fine with me, I am in Ishimbaysky District, I have a boyfriend, I will live with him.”
But the phone went unanswered and the messages soon stopped, prompting Ksenia’s parents to call the police.
Cops and volunteers scoured the area in the hope of finding the missing teenager, while investigators pored over her social media history.
They found Ksenia had started chatting to a 23-year-old man in May, with a meeting between the two scheduled for 7th July, the day she went missing.
Cops swooped in and arrested the man, who was not named in reports. During questioning, he admitted he had stabbed the young woman to death.
He told officers how he had picked her up by car and driven her to a field near the village of Novofyodorovskoye.
There, a quarrel allegedly broke out between the two, with the young man flying into a rage and pulling a knife.
He allegedly plunged the blade into Ksenia’s chest, killing her instantly.
He then hid her bloodied corpse in some bushes and drove back to his home as if nothing had happened.
The authorities in Bashkortostan described his motive as “hostility to the opposite sex because of a failed relationship with an ex-girlfriend”.
In a statement obtained by Newsflash on 29th July, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Bashkortostan said: “In July 2022, a resident of the city of Salavat went to law enforcement agencies with a statement about the disappearance of her 19-year-old daughter, who had left home on 7th July, 2022, and had not got in touch after that.
“Initially, the girl wrote messages to her mother saying that she had left for Ishimbaysky District and would live there with a young man, but then the girl stopped communicating.
“On this fact, the investigative department for the city of Salavat of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Bashkortostan initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).
“Investigators and criminologists, together with employees of the criminal investigation department, carried out a series of investigative and search activities, interrogated her acquaintances, and established her route; as a result, suspicion fell on a 23-year-old resident of the city of Salavat, with whom the missing woman was last seen.
“However, the man began to deny involvement in the girl’s disappearance, but after presenting the collected evidence, he confessed to his actions and indicated the location of the victim’s body; he also explained that the reason for the act was hostility to the opposite sex because of a failed relationship with an ex-girlfriend.
“According to investigators, the victim met the man through social networks about one and a half months ago.
“On 7th July, 2022, he invited the girl to the countryside on the pretext of picking clover.
“The couple drove the intruder’s car to a field in Sterlitamaksky District near the village of Novofedorovskoye.
“When they were about to go back, the attacker took out a knife and stabbed the girl in the chest with it.
“She died on the spot from her wound.
“After that, he hid the body, covering it with plants, and disappeared.
“To lessen her loved ones’ suspicions, the man initially corresponded with the victim’s mother and friend from her phone; however, he subsequently got rid of it.
“At present, initial investigative actions have been carried out with the detainee and charges have been brought; the court, at the investigator’s request, has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention; investigators continue to collect and record evidence in the case; a series of forensic examinations has been scheduled, including psychological and psychiatric examinations in relation to the suspect.”
