This is the moment a hot air balloon crashes into the side of a house as crew members scream in terror during a festival in Mexico.

The incident was filmed in the neighbourhood of Los Castillos in the city of Leon in the Mexican state of Guanajuato on the morning of 13th November during the second day of the Leon International Balloon Festival 2021.

Nearly 200 balloons took part in the festival, which started at the Metropolitan Park of Leon.

However, strong winds blew at least one balloon off course, causing it to hit a property on a local farm, according to the news site El Universal.

In the footage, the balloon is seen flying close to the ground and apparently unable to get lift as it approaches the two-storey farmhouse and clips the top corner.

Crew members scream in terror as the pilot manages to lift the balloon over the house and into clear skies, but not before knocking off the property’s water tank.

Festival organisers said the crew on the hot air balloon were unharmed in the incident, adding: “The people involved are in perfect condition and we are in contact with the owners of the house.”

In a statement, the organisers explained that there were strong winds in the morning and that “the activity of ballooning always depends on the weather conditions”.

The statement added that safety is always a priority and only experienced, qualified balloonists take part in the competition.
