Lesbian Lovers Charged With Murder After 9 Year Old Found Stuffed In Duffel Bag Dumped In Oregon Forest

Two women have been charged with murder after the nine-year-old daughter of one of them was found stuffed in a duffel bag and dumped in a forest in Oregon.

The remains of Haley Mae Coblentz, 9, were discovered at the Van Duzer Rest Area in Lincoln County in a forest in Oregon on 10th December 2020 and now almost a year later her mother Shawna Browning, 29, and her partner Lauren Harrison, 34, have been arrested in the city of Detroit, in the state of Michigan, on the other side of the USA.

Both have been charged with aggravated murder, according to the Oregon State Police, who added that “investigators arrested Browning and Harrison and served a search warrant on their vehicle and hotel room”.

Haley’s decomposing corpse was found in a duffel bag in a forest in Lincoln County in Oregon by an unnamed individual who was out walking.

She was found on 10th December 2020 and the police said that “it appeared she had been deceased between 30-60 days before her discovery.”

The deceased child was only identified on 4th October, with the police saying: “Investigators and experts at the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office, collected samples from the child’s remains for DNA testing by a specialty DNA laboratory.

“Parabon NanoLabs extracted DNA from the samples submitted, and on October 4, 2021, notified OSP investigators they identified the deceased child.”

Parabon NanoLabs is a company based in the city of Reston, in the US state of Virginia. It makes nanopharmaceuticals and provides DNA phenotyping services for the authorities.

The police said that the child was born in Colorado and had been “living with her biological mother and mother’s girlfriend in multiple places in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest since 2015.”

The police also said that she was “not reported as a missing person at the time of her death.” Her corpse was discovered at the Van Duzer Rest Area in Lincoln County.

The Oregon State Police said that they arrested the pair in the city of Detroit with the assistance of the Detroit branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The suspects are currently being held at the Andrew C. Baird Detention Facility in Wayne County, Michigan, without bail and they are expected to be extradited to Oregon to face trial for the young girl’s murder.
