Manchester Cops Smash Knife Gang Accused Of Carjacking And Burglary
This is the moment Manchester cops chase drug suspects in a stolen car and reportedly find a knife and detain one man following a foot chase.
The police have arrested six suspects for carrying knives and theft during an operation to prevent vehicle-related crime in the Manchester area.
The Greater Manchester Police shared the footage on social media on 5th January with the message: “Our Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit were busy across the roads of Greater Manchester last night – including this pursuit in Bury – as six suspects were taken to custody on suspicion of offences including theft, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article.
“In south Manchester, our officers spotted a suspected stolen VW Golf potentially on cloned plates and pursued it in the Burnage area of the city before running after three men and detaining them.
The police were also informed that the suspects threw a jacket in a bin that was found to have a large quantity of cash and drugs.
The Manchester cops said: “A member of the public noticed a jacket had been thrown into a bin during the chase where GBP 5k in cash and an estimated GBP 3k’s worth of cocaine was recovered.
“We also pursued a suspected stolen vehicle in the Ashton-under-Lyne area of Tameside after a call came in reporting suspicious activity around a car that had been parked in the same spot for three weeks.
“A car matching the description was later spotted and pursued for a short period of time before the driver ran from the scene.”
The police found a large knife in the car and one man was arrested after a brief foot chase.
The Greater Manchester Police said: “Two more suspects were arrested in the Whitefield area of Bury in the early hours of today (Wednesday 5 January) with the support of our Tactical Dog Unit.
“Dash cam footage of the pursuit shows the occupants of the pursued car attempting to make off from police before two men – aged 22 and 18 – were taken to custody after our canine colleagues helped detain them.
“Our Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit patrol in unmarked cars day and night working to target vehicles suspected of being involved of a broad range of crime – particularly thefts, burglaries, and robberies.
“Across the Greater Manchester area they act on intelligence and reports from the public to continue to try and drive down vehicle-related crime in the region – under the codenamed #OpDynamo.”
The investigation is ongoing.
