A woman has given birth to a healthy baby aboard a nine-hour Kuwait Airlines flight after astonishing crew when she went into labour.
The mum – whose name has not been released – began her contractions on the flight from Kuwait City to the Philippine capital Manila on 2nd August.
According to reports, the Filipino-national mum-to-be went into labour early during the nine-hour flight KU417.
Nurse Sheryl Alipio Pascua assisted with the birth after aircrew appealed for help from medics.
She later shared images of the incident on Facebook with the message: “I have never thought that this day would be the most thrilling yet humbling experience in our nursing career (me and my husband).”
One of the snaps shows the newborn wrapped in an airline blanket being cuddled by her mother.
She went on: “On our connecting flight from Kuwait bound to Philippines, 20 minutes later after departure the cabin crew announces if there are nurses and/or doctors on board for emergency situation.
“Little that we know there is a mother who is about to give birth, upon assessing the timing and regularities of contraction, I attempted to do an internal examination and only to find out that she is already on crowning stage.
“Shouted for help for other nurses, my husband Ruel Pascua and kuya Carlos Azariah Seven came and catch the baby after delivery making sure that the baby is safe.
“I would like to thank the resilience and team work of Kuwait Airways cabin crews especially to Justine who is also a nurse, she assisted me and help me all throughout.”
Both mum and baby are said to be healthy.
