Moment Quick Thinking Gran Saves Toddler Choking On Dried Fruit

This is the moment a quick-thinking gran saves a toddler choking on dried fruit.

The incident was filmed in the city of Meizhou in the Chinese province of Guangdong on 17th August.

According to the news site Toutiao, the toddler was eating dried longan fruits, from the same soapberry family as lychees, and started choking on one while his grandmother was busy putting the kettle on.

The struggling youngster couldn’t bring up the object and the woman reacted quickly, lying him horizontally across her arm and patting his upper back until the item was dislodged.

The boy’s airway was freed and he started to cry so his gran put him back down on the floor.

In the footage, the youngster is seen chewing something before creasing his face and apparently struggling to breathe.

His nan hears the lad’s faint gurgles and immediately spins on her heels to attend to him.

She lays him across one arm and uses the other to pat his upper back until the object is dislodged.

The dried fruit apparently falls out early as the boy starts sobbing during the back pats, but his grandmother keeps him in the horizontal position until she is happy the object has gone.
