Moment Rats Swim To Catch Goldfish Being Fed By Visitors

This is the moment nifty rats catch goldfish in a river along with pieces of bread thrown into the water by visitors.

The incident was filmed on Orange Isle on the Xiang River near the city of Changsha in the Chinese province of Hunan, and the video was posted on the Chinese social network Douyin.

The rats were filmed by Mr Cai and his wife who said they were visiting Orange Isle and feeding the goldfish when the rats appeared from under the walkway.

After the video was widely shared on Douyin, netizens said that it was common to see rats swim but very unusual to see them catch fish.

In the footage, one rodent shows impressive swimming skills to get among the goldfish before pouncing on one and returning to under the walkway with it in its mouth.

Meanwhile, several other rats swim out among the fish and apparently catch pieces of bread tossed into the water by visitors.

Orange Isle, also known as Ju Isle and Shuilu Isle, has a length of 5 kilometres (3.1 miles), a width of 40 to 140 metres (130 to 460 feet) and a total area of 370,900 square metres (91.64 acres). The isle is also a national 5A level tourist attraction and considered an important national scenic spot.
