The incident took place in the city of Medford, which is located in southern Oregon, on the western coast of the United States when cops said they responded to a call regarding a possible assault on 800 block on Royal Avenue at about 11.30am on Saturday morning (25th September).

Police said a short while after the victim arrived at the apartment, a report was made citing use of a firearm and the potential assault and officers were dispatched to the scene.

He came back outside after police officers managed to reach him by phone and was detained peacefully.

The police are still investigating the incident but have so far said they believe that the victim was beaten to death with a blunt object such as a hammer or a spanner and they added that it looks like the suspect had attempted to clean up the crime scene.
