This chilling footage shows a man manhandling a helpless woman down a road at night to rape her.
A CCTV camera filmed the man as he led the woman away by force to a vacant lot in Cascavel, Parana state, southern Brazil, to take advantage of her.
The Municipal Guard released the footage on 9th August, adding that a 35-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the alleged rape in the early hours of 6th August.
The force did not release his name, nor did it reveal the identity of his 28-year-old victim, who was allegedly on her way to work at the time of the incident.
The Municipal Guard said that minutes after the alleged rape, a police patrol car drove by and stopped when officers inside heard the victim’s cries for help.
The suspect – the police said – fled when he saw the car, but cops were led to his address by a rucksack full of belongings he had left at the scene.
When officers showed up at his front door, they were met by his wife, who told them her husband had left home and not yet returned.
But, hours later, the man reportedly turned himself in at the local police station and admitted to the rape.
The Municipal Guard said he had had several previous run-ins with the law.
It is not clear if he was remanded in custody.
