SCHOOL RUN: Girl Travels For First Day Back At School On Ostrich
This little girl got a memorable first day back at school after travelling there on the back of an ostrich.
The amusing footage, which was shot in the coastal province of Shandong, shows a woman leading the ostrich down the street with the girl on its back.
The long-haired woman in black is seen walking carefully next to the big bird in a high street, and controlling the ostrich as slow-moving cars follow behind.
The little girl is dressed all in pink with a pink rucksack and she seems happy.
And the ostrich appears to be wearing some kind of hood, possibly to avoid it being scared by loud noises.
Online commentators made jokes about the fact that it was an extreme reaction to the price of gas, pointing out jokingly that a kilo of fresh grass gets you 100 kilometres of travel.
But local media reported that it was actually more about the woman’s attempt to bring the reluctant youngster to school in a fun way.
Neither the woman nor the girl was named, and there were no reports about the connection between them.
In China, school summer holidays typically last two months, and begin anywhere between late June to early July.
