Viral Moment Teacher Starts Singing Adele In Front Of Restless Class And Kids Join In
This is the moment a South African teacher bursts into song because her class is restless and their little voices spontaneously join in to belt out a viral rendition of Adele’s ‘Easy on Me’.
The video was shared on TikTok by teacher Alecia van Zyl, 24, from the town of Langebaan, in the South African province of Western Cape, where it has gone viral, with nearly 8 million views.
In the footage, a caption reads: “I tried something today. It was the last few minutes of school and my Grade 1s were a bit chatty.”
Alecia starts spontaneously singing Adele’s song ‘Easy on Me’ and the students’ little voices are heard joining in until the whole class is belting out the 2021 hit.
Alecia, who speaks Afrikaans as her ‘home language’ and English as her second, told Newsflash: “It was a dream of mine from an early age to one day become a teacher. I studied for four years to get my degree. It was not difficult, the real challenge only comes when you stand in front of your own class.
“I’m a first grade teacher. I teach all the foundation phase subjects like maths, Home Language, Life Skills and Second Language.
“These days, teachers not only teach class, they have heaps of admin and all sorts of things to do after school. This prevents you as a teacher from giving your full attention to the children and their needs.”
She added: “It is definitely an exhausting job. A teacher needs to pay close attention to their mental health.”
Alecia told Newsflash: “Singing is a way to engage all learners. My kids love to sing, and I do as well.
“The song was in my head the whole time and I decided to just sing it out loud. I did not think they were going to know the words, but they really surprised me.”
