Young Mum Found Dead In Nazi Concentration Camp Bunker Had Been Ambushed On Forest Path
This young mother of one found dead in a Nazi concentration camp bunker from where the SS coordinated mass exterminations was ambushed by her killer while passing through the forest with her bicycle, say cops.
Geriatric nurse Bianca Simon, 26, from the city of Oranienburg located in the German state of Brandenburg was found dead in a Second World War bunker near the Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen at around 10pm on Monday evening (19th July).
After police investigators found her bike about 50 to 100 metres (164 to 328 ft) away from the so-called Karo Ass (Ace of Diamonds) bunker, which was a former SS communications centre, on Wednesday afternoon.
They now believe she was ambushed on the forest path while heading to reach her scheduled meeting. Spokesperson from the Neuruppin Public Prosecutor’s Office Torsten Sauermann said: “We have no direct evidence of another crime scene.”
They are now trying to discover whether the young mother of a five-year-old child was killed in the bunker or whether the unknown attacker only hid her body there.
Bianca was last seen at Oranienburg train station on Thursday afternoon on 15th July, where she was greeting a friend, after which her colleagues reported she did not show up at work, whilst she also failed to collect her son from the kindergarten.
The several-day-long search ended at 12.15 pm on Saturday, after assembly workers who wanted to visit the bunker found her corpse.
Referencing obvious injuries that she had suffered beforehand, the investigators are certain that Bianca was murdered, and an autopsy ha sbeen ordered to confirm it.
Police spokeswoman Dorte Rohrs told Bild: “The situation and the externally visible injuries reveal it was a homicide. We cannot say what was the attacker’s motivation behind the attack yet.”
Rohrs also added: “We have not yet been able to identify a suspect. We do not know why the young mother had to die.”
The communications bunker where Bianca Simon’s corpse was found used to belong to the SS (Schutzstaffel), which was Adolf Hitler’s paramilitary organisation responsible for the genocidal killing of an estimated 5.5 to 6 million Jews and millions of other victims during the Second World War.
The Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen located in Oranienburg about 35 kilometres (21 mi) north of the country’s capital Berlin, was used from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945 and it mainly held political prisoners throughout the war, among which Joseph Stalin’s oldest son Yakov Dzhugashvili.
When the Nazis set up the camp, they also built an arms control department, a dog training school, storage and Intelligence Units, and an above-ground communications bunker, known as the Funkbunker Karo Ass (Ace of Diamonds).
Bianca’s five-year-old son is now taken care of by his grandmother.
