Young Sumatran Orangutan Kawi Discovers The World

Zoo Prague, Czech Republic

The Prague Zoological Garden shared a video of their youngest orangutan member Kawi entertaining himself in his enclosure while adult orangutans explored screw barrels filled with goodies. The video was shared by the Zoo Prague, a Zoological garden in the capital city of Prague in the Chech Republic on the 4th of July. Kawi who is a Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii), was born in the zoo in November last year. While adult orangutangs explored the screw barrels in their enclosure, little Kawi was more focused on perfecting his climbing skills and climbed all over the adults, who carried him around. After a while, the young orangutan took a break from climbing but found a tree branch to play with. Soon after Kawi discovered that the leaves on the brach were very tasty, so he decided to have a little snack.

Zoo Prague told Clipzilla: “He is the only great-grandchild of orangutans who came to the Prague Zoo from the forests of Sumatra, therefore, genetically, he is extremely valuable.”
