This is the hilarious moment a man – who was not harmed – tries to run away when his lighter explodes in his face and burns off his eyebrows as he runs into a door, banging his head before swearing.

The person involved, identified as Mr. Wang, confirmed that he wanted to smoke a cigarette and that the lighter exploded just as he went to use it.

He also admitted, having watched the video, that he can see the funny side, saying: “Fortunately, I was not injured, only my hair was singed a bit and my eyebrows were also burned.”

The incident happened when the man, whose age was not given, was standing in the storeroom leading onto a yard and having a cigarette.

Sitting on the floor of the building, in the prefecture level city of Xinyang in southeastern China’s Henan Province, is a small puppy wagging its tail – perhaps assuming the man is placing something in his mouth to eat.

But as he clicks the lighter to ignite the cigarette, the lighter explodes in a fireball, sending the man staggering backwards and as he turns to run, he runs into the open door, banging his head and exclaiming in annoyance.

The puppy meanwhile, shocked by the fireball, also turns and runs and then returns cautiously as the man rubs his injured head and glares angrily at the faulty lighter on the floor.
