Adorable Tree Kangaroo Joey Makes An Appearance

An adorable 28-week-old Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo joey who is yet to be named has joined the Taronga Zoo in the Australian Municipality of Mosman.

The cute cub has just begun to pop his head and shoulders out of mum Kwikila’s pouch and is expected to remain close to his mum until he reaches around 18 months of age.

The Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo is native to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, and its species have evolved from their grounded cousins to live in trees with specially adapted paws for climbing.

They are classified as an endangered species due to habitat loss and encroaching human activity, with more than 50 per cent of their population in the wild lost over three generations.
